Facebook’s shady operations haven’t stopped, this week has been full of more drama and misinformation (Instagram passwords stored in plaintxt, asked for email log ins and used for adding friends and targeted ads, & allowing racist and anti-semantic stickers on Whatsapp).
At some point we have to understand what value exchange Facebook and it’s suite of tools are really offering us and whether we want such questionable behaviours happening constantly. If this was any other company you’d have seen a huge campaign to delete facebook and associated apps. Maybe in the era of smartphone addiction we have been programmed to allow free (utility) apps to dictate what’s acceptable or not.
